Say Āe 2 Wai – For a wai-first Tairāwhiti

Commitment to a wai only event

When it comes to New Zealand health stats, Tairāwhiti is leading the way… unfortunately in all the wrong areas. Our tamariki consume the highest weekly rates of fizzy drinks and takeaways. We also have the second highest rate of childhood and adult obesity and childhood and adult teeth removed due to tooth decay.

In support of the say āe to wai strategy sweeping through Tairāwhiti, All Poverty Bay Rugby JAB mornings and games at Waikirikiri Reserve from 5th May till the 11th August will be water only.

What does this mean?

  • A wai station will be available for everyone to fill up their drink bottles
  • There will only be water sold at the event
  • We ask and expect that only water will be brought to the event by tamariki, family and whanau

On behalf of Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union we thank you for supporting our water only event and helping us to create a healthier Tairāwhiti for our tamariki.

We look forward to seeing you all!
