Poverty Bay Rugby is seeking an independent board member to help set the strategic direction for all rugby in Gisborne and the Poverty Bay region.
Like many sectors and sports codes, rugby is facing a number of challenges. But with every challenge comes opportunity – the opportunity for change and transformation. Poverty Bay Rugby has positioned itself over the past few years to better adapt to its ever-changing world and meet the needs of its communities. As a result, it has experienced year-on-year growth and is excited about being part of change and one of the most significant periods of NZ Rugby.
The Union wants to hear from those motivated by creating environments that are welcoming and inclusive, and draw on diverse perspectives and positive actions to encourage our community to be passionate, fair and their best.
Although knowledge of and empathy for rugby are beneficial, it is not necessarily a pre-requisite of the position. Understanding a balance sheet and sports governance experience, however, is a pretty good start.
Independent Board Members must not be, or on appointment must immediately cease to be, either an employee of the Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union, or a member of the Council of Clubs .
The appointment is for a three-year term and is an appointed, not elected, position.
All applications should include a CV, confirmation of independence as defined above, and an appropriate covering letter. They should be forwarded to:
